Our Story
We're on a mission to connect food lovers with authentic local restaurants, creating a community that celebrates independent businesses and delicious cuisine.
Inspiration for Local Foodie began when our founder, Stuart Kaufmann, was handed a handmade piece of paper reading "10% off next visit" from a local Italian restaurant in Manchester.
The experience highlighted the challenge local restaurants often face when trying to reward loyal customers and attract new business. This is in stark contrast to large restaurant chains that can entice customers with deep offers and loyalty schemes due to their corporate funding and scale.
Back in London, with the paper still in his wallet, Stuart began thinking there was an opportunity for an online marketplace exclusively for great local restaurants. A place where independent eateries could easily provide discounts to loyal customers and connect to local foodies.
Stuart brought the concept to co-founders Dan and Daniel, two like-minded friends with a similar passion for food and appreciation for the special dining experience local restaurants provide. Together they went through many, many iterations of the idea, eventually arriving at the service that is Local Foodie.
Over the following weeks, Dan and Daniel worked tirelessly to finish the product, while Stuart put the hours in going door-to-door signing up restaurants and customers for launch with the first to join being Wimbledon Tapas!
Now, just a few weeks from launch, the team is ready to bring Local Foodie to the world and deliver on the principles the business was founded on: supporting local businesses, rewarding loyal customers and promoting great food!
